Tom PHILLIPS - Salman Rushdie

A UNIQUE PROOF, JUSTIFIED "STAGE PROOF" AND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST, OF A VERY LARGE, INCREDIBLY INTENSE, AND ENTIRELY UNRECORDED LITHOGRAPHED PORTRAIT OF SALMAN RUSHDIE.

During his sojourn at Harvard's Carpenter Center (1993-1994) Tom Phillips created five portraits (four lithographs and an etching with aquatint) of Salman Rushdie. Sylvan Cole Gallery has acquired a complete set--surely the only complete set, as even Phillips himself doesn't have this one--of the five, all of which are exceptional proofs. This one is by far the largest and the rarest, as it is one of only 2 or 3 proofs printed (the print was never editioned, and is entirely unrecorded).

On extremely fine wove paper.

In perfect condition.
