Jean COCTEAU - Taureaux

Jean Cocteau – Taureaux
Paris: Michèle Trinckvel, [1965]
Rare contributor’s copy, printed on vélin de Rives, distinguished by the presence of two additional suites of lithographs printed on Rives vellum and Arches vellum, copies of this type being reserved for collaborators involved in the publication.
The work contains 32 original lithographs by Jean Cocteau, printed in Paris by the renowned master printer Fernand Mourlot.
This example is further enriched with two complete additional suites of the first 17 lithographs, resulting in a total of 66 lithographic impressions in the portfolio.
The lithographs are organized in two series:
• the first accompanying the text, including full-page and double-page compositions, many printed in colour
• the second series titled “Florilège”, comprising additional lithographs printed in colour, black and bistre.
Printed in a limited edition of 200 copies plus a few contributor copies, this example belongs to the most desirable variant of the edition due to the presence of the double suite on fine art papers.
