Once again returning to the themes of death and rebirth, in 2021 Kiki Smith introduced Red Breast as a unique print created with rubber stamps and watercolor. Hand-signed, dated and numbered from the edition of 200, the artwork measures 5 ¾ x 8 ½ in. (14.6 x 21.6 cm), unframed. Each print in this edition is uniquely stamped 12-20 times using watercolor on handmade Twinrocker paper. The use of rubber stamps and hand-applied techniques are part of Smith's broader interest in challenging conventional printmaking hierarchies to achieve her desired result which she does here, spectacularly.
