Diam. 26 cm Edition 60
While living in Vallauris, Picasso began to make ceramics at the town's Madoura Pottery. In addition to making unique works, he allowed the pottery to reproduce his designs in numbered editions. This ceramic plate was produced in an edition of 60 using a plaster mould. The goat is a recurring motif in Picasso's art. In the 1950s he owned a pet goat called Esmeralda.
This piece was the only ceramic in the Exhibition in the British Museum for the exposition PICASSO PRINTMAKER, 2025
