Composed of beautiful contrasting colors and sweeping line strokes that envelope the composition, everything works in unison to bring a warmth and richness to the quality of the image. Full of painterly textural features, the use of deep hues on a soft background makes the still life visually pop out of the composition. The favored subject of the still life is apparent throughout the artist's career, and this work is a prime example of the skill and creative intellect which Braque masters in this wonderful work of art.
Created in 1958, this color lithograph in eight colors on Arches paper is hand-signed by Georges Braque (Argenteuil, Val d’Oise, 1882 – Paris, 1963) in pencil in the lower left margin.
