This large-format, very painterly lithograph in warm brown-red harmonises perfectly with the irregular margins of the handmade Japan paper. Georg Tappert, who was one of the co-founders of the Berlin "Novembergruppe" in 1918 and one of the most important German Expressionists of the post-"Brücke" period, finally abandoned the influence of Art Nouveau here and conquered an equal place among the lithographs of the "Brücke" artists, which were also executed as monotype-like hand prints.
