Very good condition

For Pierre Soulages, lithography was a privileged field of experimentation, where the exploration of light is inseparable from the work on black. The artist deliberately sought the unexpected and creative accidents, not as mere chance effects but as phenomena to observe, analyse and fully integrate into the creative process. Rejecting the principle of a simple "bon à tirer", he worked on the entire edition, reworking each impression to refine his work.
Black is not conceived as a mere opaque mass: it is shaped to capture, hold or reflect light. The white of the paper plays an active role; neither reserve nor void, it becomes an essential luminous element that conditions and intensifies the perception of black.
