A wonderful illustrated book, featuring seven French songs (mainly about sailors and the sea) and SEVEN FULL-PAGE WOOD-ENGRAVINGS and numerous text illustrations by MAURICE SAVIN.

These illustrations focus on sailors, especially the time they spend ashore with women. The text of the seven songs is printed in facsimile of the author's handwriting, with the complete musical notation by Jean Messager.

Edition limited to 212 numbered copies, of which this is one of 200 printed on fine Lafuma wove paper.

Large 4to. Original wraps, with hand-colored vignette on the front cover. Tiny traces of wear to wraps, else FINE AND BRIGHT.
