Note historique : Alors que Louis Broder avait pensé confier à Jacques Villon l’illustration d’un recueil collectif dans lequel figurerait "Sable mouvant", ainsi que des textes de Saint-John Perse, Char, etc., l'éditeur décida, après la mort de Reverdy, de lui rendre hommage en publiant ce poème seul et en faisant appel à Picasso, ami de toujours du poète, pour illustrer le volume. Furent alors sélectionnées 10 aquatintes, datées 1964 et 1965, sur le thème de l'artiste et son modèle, cher à Picasso depuis "le Chef-d'œuvre inconnu". Superbe réalisation d'un grand éditeur et d'un artiste de génie.
Très bel exemplaire, l'ouvrage en parfait état, comme l'étui-chemise, l'ensemble comme neuf.
Provenance: de la bibliothèque d'un important bibliophile européen.

A large folio volume (510 x 415 mm), in sheets, under folded cover covered with a second folded parchment cover printed on the front, canvas folder with printed parchment back, slipcase.
First edition of Reverdy's last poem.

Edition: 255 numbered copies on Rives vellum watermarked LB (Louis Broder).
The original etchings were printed by Aldo Crommelynck.
Historical note: While Louis Broder had thought of entrusting Jacques Villon with the illustration of a collective collection in which "Moving Sand" would appear, as well as texts by Saint-John Perse, Char, etc., the publisher decided, after the death of Reverdy, to pay homage to him by publishing this poem alone and by calling on Picasso, a lifelong friend of the poet, to illustrate the volume. Then were selected 10 aquatints, dated 1964 and 1965, on the theme of the artist and his model, dear to Picasso since "Balzac The Unknown Masterpiece". Superb achievement by a great publisher and a genius artist.
Very nice copy, the book in perfect condition. As new.
