**André Verdet – Griffes de Picasso. Editions Parler, Paris, 1961. Small 8vo (21 x 14 cm), original softcover designed by Pablo Picasso. Complete copy enriched with two original interventions by Picasso and accompanied by an original lithograph.**Original edition of 1066 copies. This copy is exceptionally enriched by Pablo Picasso with a bold red pastel signature on the half-title and a large, fluid brown pastel drawing in the form of an interrogative arabesque. These hand-drawn additions are entirely original and executed by Picasso directly onto the paper, making this example unique. Further inscribed and dedicated by André Verdet to Andrée Claire. Illustrated throughout with unpublished photographs by Jacqueline Roque and Robert Picault.Included is the original Picasso lithograph Taureaux et picador, printed in black on Marais paper, in an Épreuve d’Artiste (Artist’s Proof) impression. This lithograph corresponds to the print created for the 45 deluxe copies of the edition, here present as an Artist’s Proof, making it significantly more desirable than the standard issue.A rare and highly collectible “exemplaire enrichi,” combining: an original Picasso signature, an original Picasso drawing, Verdet’s personal inscription, the Artist’s Proof lithograph associated with the deluxe group, and Picasso’s original cover design. Very few copies of Griffes de Picasso were enriched by Picasso in this manner.
Condition: very good and complete; light toning consistent with age; cover clean; lithograph in excellent condition. A unique association copy of considerable interest.
