La bauge du sanglier, or “The Wild Boar’s Lair,” belongs to Miró’s 1967 Haï-Ku series, a group of lithographs inspired by the brevity and suggestive power of poetry. Miró was deeply influenced by literary circles from his early years in Barcelona and later by the Surrealist poets he met in Paris. In this print, the title introduces a more instinctive and earthy image. The idea of a hidden animal shelter suggests wilderness, protection, and primal energy. Miró does not describe the scene literally; instead, he uses abstract forms and expressive marks to create a poetic equivalent. The result is a visual haiku: concise, mysterious, and emotionally charged.
