L’artiste a composé spécialement la couverture en couleur de l'ouvrage.
Tirage de la lithographie originale par Fernand Mourlot sur vélin teinté.
Tirage à 2850 exemplaires numérotés sur papier vélin, la moitié du tirage en français, l'autre en anglais.

First edition of this work designed by Henri MATISSE (1869-1954), offering the reproduction of 93 portraits made by the artist, including 60 drawings, lithographs and paintings in black and 33 paintings in color.
The whole being superbly reproduced in rotogravure/collotype
The artist specially composed the color cover of the book.
The printing of the original lithograph was proceeded by Fernand Mourlot on tinted ivory wove paper.
Edition of 2850 numbered copies on vellum paper, half of the edition in French, the other in English.
