Indiana designed the poster to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Portland Maine Symphony Orchestra.
Featuring a design reminiscent of the American flag, with red and blue being the predominant colors, though gold replaces white. There are also 50 stars featured, one for every year.
The artist publicly debuted his interpretation of the word ART in 1970, in this poster for Princeton University Art Museum’s American Art exhibition!

Indiana a conçu cette affiche pour commémorer le 50e anniversaire de l'Orchestre symphonique de Portland Maine.
Le dessin rappelle le drapeau américain, avec le rouge et le bleu comme couleurs prédominantes, bien que l'or remplace le blanc. Cinquante étoiles sont également représentées, une pour chaque année.
L'artiste a présenté publiquement son interprétation du mot ART en 1970, dans cette affiche pour l'exposition d'art américain du musée d'art de l'université de Princeton !
