David Hockney (Born 1937)

Title: Matelot Kevin Druez 2 (s.9322)
Medium: Inkjet printed computer drawing on paper, 5 March/6 March 2009, signed by the artist in pencil
Size: 140 x 95 cms - Framed size: 110 x 160 cms.
Edition: 30
Published by: The artist himself
Condition: In very good condition
Note: This depicts a sailor smoking a cigarette while gazing provocatively into the observer. This particular representation is most probably affiliated with the queer Imaginarium in which a uniform fetish takes an important place. The sailor is not just a random figure bored to death; rather, he symbolises the sex appeal, a desire that had to be disguised and hidden for a long time.
