A BEAUTIFUL, EARLY, AND UTTERLY FASCINATING DRAWING BY JEAN COCTEAU, based on his tragedy "Orphée" (1925-1926, published in 1927). In 1950 he turned Orphée into a movie starring Jean Marais, the love of his life.
The drawing is a birthday gift, dedicated to "Moumousse", the one he prefers "à tout autre". While Cocteau never made much effort to hide his homosexuality, he was often discreet about naming his lovers.
On good wove paper.
In excellent condition.
Signed by Cocteau in ink...EIGHT times (seven times as "Jean Cocteau", once as "Jean".)
