- PROVENANCE: Horace Finaly Library (H. Finaly was also a long-time friend of Marcel Proust and his "banker", there is an important and fascinating correspondence between the two men).
Note: A former student of the Lycée Condorcet, a fellow student of Marcel Proust and Robert de Flers, a law graduate from the Faculty of Paris, Horace Finaly rubbed shoulders in his parents' living room with the cultural elite of the time (Anatole France, Gabriele D 'Annunzio, etc.). He divides his time between Neuilly and Florence, where Hugo and Jenny Finaly have the Landau-Finaly villa and the collections bequeathed by Horace de Landau, in particular an important library of manuscripts, incunabula and rare editions. He remains a personality apart in the banking world by asserting political positions on the left. In 1936/37, he was the only banker to support the Popular Front...
