Otto NÜCKEL - Allein (Alone)

Leadcut on Japan paper, 7 x 7 cm. C. 1930. Signed artists' proof. Entirely in the style and also format of the famous series of illustrations for the book without text "Schicksal"/"Destiny - A Novel in Pictures" published simultaneously in Berlin and New York in 1930.

Otto Nückel was a member of the artists' association Münchner Sezession. His entire oeuvre is dominated by the bizarre and a profound irony that extends to biting sarcasm. He was one of the first to work with the printing technique of leadcut and developed this art form to the highest level of mastery. He caused a sensation with his book "Schicksal. Eine Geschichte in Bildern" (Delphin Verlag, Munich 1930).
